Hydrogen as a fuel source is becoming a more viable idea all the time and many motoring companies are actively involved in developing the concept. For example, GM already has some Hydrogen fuel cars and there are even some city bus services that run on this type of fuel. But what does this mean for the average motorist? You may have heard about installing a hydrogen generator kit on cars to make it more efficient in fuel consumption. Basically, a hydrogen car kit will make your car function somewhat like a hybrid. HHO basically works by electrolyzing water to give out a gas called Oxyhydrogen. When Oxyhydrogen or “brown gas” is ignited, it burns to produce energy and water vapor.
So basically, you will be running with a lot of water under your hood. This water is then broken down by electrolysis using sparks from the car battery. After the electrolysis, the Oxyhydrogen gas is sucked in by the engine and it can be combined with your normal petroleum-based fuel. So when folks talk about running your car on water, that isn’t really accurate. It is more correct to say that the car runs on a combination of regular petrol-based fuel and HHO.
